YouTube Helps Nonprofits: Especially Smaller Foundations

YouTube's joined MySpace and Facebook with by venturing toward the nonprofit route. The YouTube Nonprofit Program is the latest way to develop awareness for your cause. YouTube wants to enable smaller foundations to reach out to donors and volunteers. By 2008 they hope to reach one billion playbacks.

"Broadcast your cause. Does your organization have a compelling story to tell? Do you want to connect with your supporters, volunteers, and donors but don't have the funds to launce expensive outreach campaigns?"

Who's eligible: Nonprofits in the U.S. with 501c(3)tax status, apply today for the YouTube NonProfit Program.
According to their website here's what's included:

  • Premium branding capabilities and increased uploading capacity
  • Rotation of your videos in the "promoted Videos" areas throughout the site
  • The option to Google Checkout "Donate" button – a free service provided by Google.

As an added bonus the first 300 nonprofits to sign up will receive a video camera from puredigital Technologies and Casio.
