In every economics class you’re informed that “there are no free lunches.” Well there are exceptions to the rule, at least with Google Grants. I stumbled upon this in my research for another blog topic, and I thought it was something that I needed to share with all of our non-profit clients.
What it Google Grants?
Google offers a program aimed specifically for non-profit organizations. As a part of their community service philosophy Google offers free advertising to companies that meet their requirements. Their program is in-kind advertising for non-profit organizations. “It harnesses the power of their flagship advertising product, Google Adwords, to non-profit seeking to inform and engage their constituents online.”
Does your non-profit qualify for Google Grants?
If your organization has a 501(c) (3) status you may qualify for their program. If you already participate in Google’s Adsense program, you are not eligible to apply for Google Grants. Google Grants are not awarded to religious or political organizations.
How do you apply?
Visit http://google.com/grants/ for complete instructions and guidelines. Here’s a tip from the Google Grants website: “Your application is more likely to be successful if you have a basic understanding of the Google AdWords program and the Google Grants Program Guidelines. You will be asked to provide sample keywords, ad copy, and a brief statement about how your organization will benefit from participating in the Google Grants program.”
When will I hear if my organization is accepted into the program?
“Google selects Google Grants recipients every quarter. You will know within six months or less whether or not you will receive a Google Grant award.”
Visit Google’s website to find out all the details, FAQ’s and information regarding AdWords. Please send me an email if you apply and get accepted into the Google Grants program.
Who doesn’t enjoy a free lunch?
